The Johnny Warren Jamberoo Classic - 3 January 2010

The Johnny Warren Jamberoo Classic is an annual fundraising event held on the first Sunday in January. Named in honour of one of Australia's great sporting heroes, Johnny Warren, this fantastic day ride starts at Loftus in Sydney's southern suburbs and finishes at the Warren Family pub in Jamberoo.

Every year OTH Tours gets the opportunity to help raise funds for much needed services for Lifehouse, the new Sydney Cancer Centre at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. In 2009 we helped to raise over $25,000 which goes towards specialist services for people with cancer and their families. Funds raised also contribute to research and new treatments in the fight against cancer.

For 2010 we are again instrumental in bringing much need funds to Lifehouse while giving you a great day out on the bike.

Have a look at www.johnnywarrenjamberooclassic.com.au and sign up for this annual trip to Jamberoo. Spend the day with your family and friends riding through the Royal National Park and along some of Australia's spectacular coastline before finishing with a nice cold one in Jamberoo.

OTH Tours is proud to announce a new sponsor partnership with the Southern Highlands Cycling Club. The SHCC is very much a family orientated cycling club heavily involved in promoting and supporting road and mountain bike cyclists in the Southern Highlands of NSW. From road endurance events of the recent Token 12 Hour race at Penrith to the Australian National Mountain Bike Championships in Canberra, SCHH was there in numbers.

Visit the SHCC website for more information on what they offer and make sure you visit them when you're next in Bowral. Who knows, you might be next for a taste of Jagermeister!

Another year has come and gone for the Johnny Warren Jamberoo Classic.

The first weekend in January for the past six years has seen an increasing number of intrepid cyclists take to the road to raise funds for the Sydney Cancer Centre (SCC) at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. This year was the biggest yet with 500 riders taking the start at Loftus in southern Sydney.

It was in 2003 where a small number of us (25 to be precise) rode down to Jamberoo and the Warren Family pub to be met by the esteemed Australian sports star Johnny Warren, Johnny gave out encouragement awards to the riders, who surely took the toughest route imaginable (Royal National Park, Stanwell Tops, Bulli, Albion Park), displaying the class act he was by celebrating riders arrival while he himself was unwell with cancer.

Johnny never did get to see subsequent years of cyclists riding into Jamberoo as he lost his own personal battle with cancer in 2004. But his spirit lives on in all those who took part in this years Johnny Warren Jamberoo Classic whether it be riding a bike, volunteering as a marshal, or providing any other means of support in our efforts to raise funds for the Sydney Cancer Centre  where Johnny received treatment prior to his death.

Read more about the ride at Johnny Warren Jamberoo Classic or donate to the Sydney Cancer Centre and have a look at some pictures from the day.
